The HODGES CUP. (Men's singles)
Saturday September 5th.

Paul Lloyd with the Hodges Cup.
Paul played very well, against a strong opponent, Nick Flatters.
Both players had played two games to reach the final, with Paul winning the match 21-15.
Fourteen members took part and all games were 21up.
Well played everyone!.

This squad played extremely well through out the 5 weeks of the Competition.

This Squad also played very well to finish second in the competition,

SUNDAY AUGUST 16th.
SEVERN HOSPICE CHARITY DAY.

Held at Highley Bowling Club.
Supported by Members and friends of Cleobury Mortimer Bowling Club.
The competition winner with their prizes, presented to them by the organisers,
Richard Green (far left) and his wife, Diane (far right)

Martin Beddow (left centre) and Tony Wilson, the winners of a great final.
The losing finalist Warren Eudaff and Les Davis also played a very good game.
The final was played over 9 ends and after 7 ends Warren and Les were 6-4 up
Martin and Tony won end 8 and then played a very good lead close
 to the edge of the green and played two good bowls, followed by a good bowl
from Tony, to win 7-6.

There was a good turnout in support of this charity, from both Clubs.
£350 was raised. Well done to all of the participants.

The LLOYD CUP. (Scratch Doubles)
Saturday August 15th.

With the Lloyd Cup.

This was a great final - a real nip-and-tuck affair.  Ade and Bill were behind for most of the
match. They were 12-14 down until the 18th end when they got a 3 to go 15-14 up. they finished
 with a further two threes to win 21-14.
The losing finalist were Martin Bishop and Nick Emery.
The early rounds were over 15 ends with the final 21up.
Ten pairs took part. 
Well played everyone.

 

 

CAPTAIN'S DAY. SATURDAY, AUGUST 1 2026.

Dave Booton (L) and Mary Betteridge (R) received their prizes after winning the final of the
Captain's Day competition. They were presented by this year's Club Captain, Lauren Burnside.  
Dave and Mary played extremely well all throughout the tournament, winning five games
to reach the final, where they triumphed 10-5.
Well played to both players.
The losing finalists Were Lesley Burnside and Tony Wilson.

The other losing semi-finalist were:
Carol Marsh and Bob Steel. Christine Smith And Jenny Goodall.

Highley Bowling Club, and Chelmarsh Bowling Club
who always give their fullest support.
Also to the catering Team of
Lesley Burnside Jean Wilson, and Ann Jones, for providing a
wonderful buffet.
Once again Phil pack did a wonderful job of organising the
sequence of games which concluded in a very good final.

 

SATURDAY JULY 25th.
The ALLUN MARTIN CUP.
(Handicap Singles)

Nick Flatters has claimed victory  in the Allun Martin Cup, defeating
Martin Bishop with a final score of 17-12 after four excellent games.
Due to extreme weather conditions, all matches were shortened to 15 ends.
A special congratulations goes to new members Nick Emery and Gary Smith, who both
reached the semi-finals in their very first competition.
Congratulations to all 15 members who entered!
 

 

SATURDAY JULY 18th. 2026.
The WAKEMAN CUP, (mixed doubles)

Tony Wilson (L) and Bill Massingham, holding the WAKEMAN CUP.
They played 2 games of 15 ends and won both games playing very well .
They won the final 21-6.
The losing finalists were Jean Wilson and Ade Booton,
There were 12 entries in total. Well played, everyone!

 

 

SATURDAY JULY 11th. 2026.
The REED CUP, (Mixed doubles)

Chris Cowdell and Paul Lloyd won the Reed Cup after playing exceptionally well.
Due to the extreme heat, all games were shortened to 15 ends.
Paul and Chris played 2 games ultimately winning the final with a score of 18-3
against runner-up Marie Griffiths and Shaun Woodhouse.
Twelve pairs took part in total. well played, everyone!

SATURDAY JUNE 27th. 2026.
The DOWNES CUP. (mixed doubles)

Lesley Burnside and Dave Booton with the DOWNES CUP.
It was a very close game under very trying conditions, but Lesley and Dave
prevailed in the end. The losing finalists were Roy Broome and Shaun Woodhouse.
The final score was 21-17. Well played everyone! Five pairs took part.

 

 

SATURDAY JUNE 20th 2026.
CHAIRMAN'S CUP.

SHAUN WOODHOUSE AND LESLEY BURNSIDE
Lift the Chairman's Cup!
A total 22 members braved the extreme weather conditions to compete in this
tournament, with games shortened to 15 ends to speed up play. The competition was fierce,
featuring a number with with an extra end as a tie breaker.

In a dramatic final, Shaun and Lesley were playing against Jane Flatters and Tony Wilson.
Despite trailing 11-3 at one stage, Tony and Jane fought back brilliantly to level the score.
However, after a tense extra end Shaun and Lesley secured a thrilling victory.

Huge thanks to Chairman Tony Wilson and his wife, Jean, for sponsoring
the competition and providing a very enjoyable after match buffet! 

 

Friday June 12th.
The JULES CUP
(65s and over)

Ken Link & Jean Wilson with the JULES CUP.
They won 21-18.
The losing finalists were Stan Checkett & Clarice.

Saturday June 6th.
The HORTON SHIELD
(Mixed Doubles)

Nick Flatters & Ade Booton, holding the HORTON SHIELD.
This was a really top class final. The losing finalists, Roy Broome & Warren Eudaff,
played a very good first half to take a 15-6 lead. Then Nick & Ade fought back to
16 across, then Roy and Eudaff went to 20-17 up but Nick and Ade dug deep  to get to 20-20
and took the final 21-20.
Eighteen members took part well played everyone.

 

SATURDAY MAY 16th.
The JACK-IN-THE-BOX TROPHY.

Paul Lloyd and Nick Flatters Pose with the Jack-in-the-Box Trophy. The pair played brilliantly all afternoon to secure the title. In the final they raced to a commanding 17-2 lead. Opponents Tony Wilson and Warren Eudaff mounted a tremendous fight back to close the gap 14-20, but Paul and Nick secured the final shot to seal a hard-fought victory.
Six pairs entered the competition. Well played everyone.

 

CHARITY DAY (For Cleobury Mortimer Sports Hall)
SUNDAY MAY 3rd.
A special thank goes to all  members who helped to make this day a success,
.with a particular thanks to Jean and Tony Wilson for providing the wonderful buffet.
Members from Cleobury Mortimer, Chelmarsh,
and Highley bowls clubs enjoyed themselves while supporting
 this worthy Charity. A total of £355 was raised.

The LADIES CUP.
(Scratch Singles) )

of 21-7 did not reflect the high quality of the game.
Four members took part in the tournament.

 

SATURDAY APRIL 26th 2026.
The MOTTERSHEAD CUP.
(Scratch Triples)


The winners of the MOTTERSHEAD CUP.
The winner after a hard fought contest (L-R) were,
Dave Booton, Ade Booton and Sean Woodhouse.
It was a tremendous contest with the match going 27 ends,.
The match was changing ends constantly, with the winning team were behind
19-14 at one stage but they dug deep to finish winner at 21-20.
the losing finalist were
Lesley Burnside, Joe Burnside and Paul Lloyd.
5 teams took part. Well played everyone.

 

SATURDAY APRIL 11th. 2026.
The DENNIS EDWARDS TROPHY
(Scratch Doubles)

(L-R) Pete Williams and Warren Eudaff, with the
DENNIS EDWARDS Trophy.
Pete and Warren place three good games, of 21 up, to win this trophy.
The final was of a very high standard; Pete and Warren held a strong lead of 15-5, but the opposition fought back to10-15. Pete and Warren then finished with a flourish to win 21-15. The losing finalists were
Dave Booton and Nick Flatters.
Eight pairs took part in the competition. Well played, everyone.

 

 
THE NEW COVERED AREAS UNDER CONSTUCTION

Construction of the covers at both ends of the green is now underway.
The work is being carried out by Club member, Joe Burnside.
The Club would also like to thank Roy Broome; his generous
donation has made this project possible.
