 PRESIDENTS DAY,
SUNDAY OCTOBER 5th. 2025

STAN CHECKETT, (L) CLUB CAPTAIN,

It was a very good day, weather wise, for this annual competition.
A very good turnout, saw Stan's team, overcome Dave's team
to win this prestigious Trophy.
A special thanks to Phil Pack who once organized the competition and
prepared an immaculate green to play on after the previous two days poor weather.
Also a big thank you to Lesley Burnside and her team  for
preparing a superb Buffet.

The CHAIRMANS CHALLENGE CUP.

Liam And Joe played extremely well to win this Trophy.
They played 3 games of 21 up and won the final 21-14.
The losing finalist were Stan Checkett and Chris Cowdell.
16 players took part, well played everyone,
 

 

 

SATURDAY AUGUST 30th. 2025
The HODGES SHIELD.
(Men's Scratch singles) 

Liam Williams with the HODGES SHIELD.
Liam played a tremendous final to win this Trophy.
It was a close game all through, with both players only scoring 3 x 2s each.
and played 31 ends. The final score being 21-16.
The losing player was Dave Booton.
Well played to both of them.
Eight players took part. Well played everyone.

 

SATURDAY AUGUST 16th.
The WAKEMAN CUP
(Scratch Doubles)

The cup is in memory of his parents Ivor and Christine.
Shaun & Nick played extremely well to win this Cup.
They were 5-5 after 7 ends, then had a good run to 10-5 when the opponents
scored a 1 they then went 13-7 and ran out 21-7.

The loosing finalists were Pete Williams & Chris Cowdell, they played well but
Shaun and Nick, were far to good on the day.
There were 16 entries for the competition.
Well played everyone.

 

2025 AIR AMBULANCE DAY (HELD AT HIGHLEY)
AUGUST 10th.

Diane Green & Phil Pack after winning the final.
It was a very good final, with Diane & Phil taking a 2 on the first end.
Then Jean & Mark took the next 5 ends to go 7-2 up, but Diane & Phil took the 7th end
with a 1 then won the last 2 ends with a 2 & a 4 to win 9-7.

This event was organised by Highley Bowls Club to raise money for the
 AIR AMBULANCE SERVICE.
42 members and friends from Highley Bowls Club, Chelmarsh Bowls Club
and Cleobury Mortimer Bowls Club.

The format was for pairs, made up from the 3 Clubs, playing 7 ends over three games the
highest winner playing the semi final and final.

A special mention should go to the members of Highley Bowls Club
for organising the day and providing an excellent buffet.
Also thanks to Phil Pack for organising the playing format.

The committee of Highley Bowls Club announced that £ 400.00 had been raised
   for the Charity.

SATURDAY JULY 26th.
The ALLUN MARTIN CUP
(Handicap singles)

Nick Flatters & Ade Booton
holding the WAKEMAN CUP which they have just won.
They both played very well, under the conditions, which were very trying.
The green was flying throughout the afternoon but the winning pair, who played 3 games,
managed to win 21-7.
The losing finalists were Jane Flatters & Andy Pain, who also played 3 games.
8 pairs took part: well played everyone.

A big thank you also to the HIGHLEY BOWLS CLUB for supporting this
event, their presence always helps the day.

Also a big thank you to Phil Pack for organising the schedule of games.
Because of the weather only 2 games of the K.O. stages were completed.

of organising the event but was left saddened by the way it all ended.

SATURDAY 12th 2025
The REED CUP
(doubles)

Roy Broome and Pete Williams holding the REED CUP.
Roy and Pete played extremely well under the trying conditions, with the temperature
reaching 30 degrees. They played against Martin Bishop and Shaun Woodhouse.
The score being 21-6 over 13 ends

 

SATURDAY JULY 5th.
HORTON SHIELD
(doubles)

Nick Flatters & Warren Euddaf with the HORTON SHIELD.
Nick and Warren played very well to win this Trophy,
After being down 5-3 after 7 ends they then surged ahead to take the match 21-9.
The losing finalists were Shaun Woodhouse & Roy Broom.

 

SATURDAY JUNE 26th.
DOWNS CUP.

Dave Booton & Lesley Burnside, with the DOWNES CUP.
Dave & Lesley played extremely well to win this trophy.
They were well down at one stage but dug deep to get  the lead and hold onto it.
The score finished 21-15.
16 players took part on another sweltering day. But everyone thoroughly enjoyed the day.

FRIDAY JUNE 13th. 2025
The JULES CUP
(Seniors scratch mixed doubles, 65s & over)
 

Jane Flatters & Roy Broome with The JULES CUP
Jane and Roy played a very good game to win this Trophy, they were 7-7.
 They then got on a good short mark and were quickly went 18-7 up then the opposition,
Rae Livesey and Warren Euddaf, made a 3 but Jane and Roy ran out 21-10.

 

SATURDAY MAY17th. 2025.
The JACK-IN-THE-BOX Trophy.
(Scratch Doubles)

This was a very competitive game with the lead changing a few times and the winning pair
coming from 18-14 down to win 21-18.
The losing finalists were Liam Williams & Shaun Woodhouse,
10 pairs took part. Well played everyone.

 

SATURDAY MAY 10th 2025
The LADIES CUP.
(Scratch Singles)

Jean Wilson & Lesley Burnside (R) winner of  the LADIES CUP.
this match was a very close game all the way.
The final score was 21-18.
Three members took part, well played everyone.

 

SATURDAY APRIL 27th. 2025
The MOTTERSHED CUP,
(mixed triples)

 These winners played extremely well over two games to win this Cup.
The losing finalists were Graham Kitchen, Mike & Ron. 
The final score was 21-10.
4 teams took part: well played everyone.

 

SATURDAY APRIL 12th. 2025.
The DENNIS EDWARDS CUP
(Handicap mixed pairs.)

Dave & Pete played a very good game to win this Trophy.
They led very closely up to 16-14 then quickly when to 20-15 then 20-16,to finish off at 21-16
The losing finalists were Joe Burnside & Nick Flatters.
Both pairs were of scratch,
Eight pairs took part in the competition, well played everyone .
