Dale & Roy played extremely well to win this Trophy. At one time
they were 11-1 down,
but they stuck to it and got back into the game The opposition
were hanging onto the lead
and lead 20-18, Roy & Dale then won a tremendous end to be 20-19
down,
they then got 2 very good Shots to win the competition.
The Spectators applauded a great final.
The losing finalists were: Bill Taylor & Stan Checkett.
Well played all of the finalists. |

PRESIDENTS DAY & FUND RAISER |
A wonderful day was had by members and friends on this day.
The PRESIDENT'S (Dave Jones's) team
played the CLUB CAPTAIN'S (Roy Broome's) team.
This an annual event is to finish the season on.
Above is the victorious Captain's team, who won with an
overwhelming victory.
The final score was
170-152.
A special thanks must go to all of the club members and members
of the Highley Bowls Club
for supporting us on this day.
Also a big thank you to Lesley Burnside for putting on the
buffet.
Thanks also to Jean Wilson, Phil Pack & Dorothy Davies for their
help on the day.

CLEOBURY MORTIMER BOWLS CLUB,
LADIES CUP. |
Lesley Burnside, with the Ladies Cup.
Lesley, played Mary Clarke in the semi-final And won 21-5,
she then played Jean Wilson in the final and
had a very good game. Lesley took an early lead
then Jean came back and went 12-10 up.
but Lesley stuck to it and eventually ran out 21-13.
Jean Wilson, played Dorothy Davies in a preliminary round to go
into the semi-final.
She then played Pam Lacey and it was a first class game with
Jean winning 21-16..
Well played to all of the ladies.

LEAGUE
MERIT FINAL. |
Lesley Being presented with Ludlow Ladies Merit Shield by Jane
Davis the League Treasurer.
The Cleobury Mortimer hosted the Merit Finals, in which 20
members took part.
It was a very warm day with sunshine throughout the day.
The standard of the bowling was of the highest standard in all
games.
Lesley won the final 21-5.
Jane thanked Cleobury Mortimer for hosting the final and
everyone for taking part and all of the help in the background.

The MOTTERSHEAD CUP (scratch triples) |
Stan Checkett, (L) Jean Wilson & Tony Wilson,
winners of the Mottershead Cup.
The 3 players played extremely well to win this trophy.
They played a semi-final & the final.
The final swung both ways with some very good leads, then the
trio closed the match to run out
21-14.
Four triples took part well played everyone. |

DANIEL TAYLORS
AIR AMBULANCE DAY.
At Cleobury Mortimer Bowls Club. |
Terry Clifton and Mo Parton,
winners of the 2019 Daniel Taylor Air Ambulance Day.
The final was a very close game being played over 9 ends.
I was 6-6 after 7 ends then Mo & terry won the last 2 ends to
win 8-6. |

The Competition started on time at 1pm with 19 pairs taking
part.
A few showers were experienced during the first
games but the weather cleared, with Sunshine for the rest of the
day
The semi finals were: Bob Gee and Mary Betteridge v Mo
Parton and Terry Clifton.
Brian
Williams and Jan Hetherington v Brian Sheldon (Shelly) and
Brenda Turner.
A very enjoyable day was had by all, with a full total of
£300.00. being raised
for this essential service

The JACK IN THE
BOX Trophy. (Scratch Doubles) |
4 pairs contested the Jack in The Box trophy.
The winning pair, Joe Burnside & Chris Cowdell, were presented
with the trophy
by the donor. Brian Sheldon. (C).
The Bank Holiday probably restricted the entry, but some good
bowling took place.
Joe & Chris played very well to win 21-9.
The losing finalists were Bill Taylor & Nick Flatters.

The JULES CUP
(Scratch Doubles) |
Pam Lacey & Ray Link with the Jules Cup.
This trophy is now the only one played for by
the clubs senior citizens. 9 pairs took part,
and all games were played over 15 ends,
this was due to the high temperature
Pam & Ray played Terry Clifton & Bill Taylor in the final.
After the 15 ends the score stood at 13 across.
An extra end was played and Pam & Ray prevailed.
Well played all those that took part.

LEAGUE MERITS. |
The Cleobury Mortimer Bowls Club, hosted the 2019 Ludlow League
Merits.

The final score was 21-16.
22 League members took part and some top class bowling took
place.
in very pleasant weather.
Wayne thank the hosting club and all that helped to make the day
so successful.

The DOWNES CUP (scratch mixed doubles) |
Howard Broome & Pam Lacey, with the Downes Cup, won this
competition.
21-3.
Howard & Pam had a bye into the semi-final and played extremely
well in both games.

SUNDAY JULY 28th.
CHARITY DAY & THE
CHRISTINE & IVOR LLOYD CUP. |
Phil Pack & Pam Stinton being presented with the
CHISTINE & IVOR LLOYD CUP.
The 2 young men presenting the Trophy are (l-R) Oliver & Sam
Lloyd,
are the Grand Children of the late Christine & Ivor.
Phil & Pam played incredibly well to win the final, 13-5 over 9
ends.
The day was to raise money for the Cleobury Mortimer First
Responders.
A total of £300,00 was raised.
A special thanks must go Lesley Burnside Jean Wilson,
for providing a wonderful buffet, also to Howard Broome for
doing the washing up.
And last by no means least a big thank you to Phil Pack
for organising the games which were three games over 7 ends. |

ROY BROOME: CLUB CAPTAIN 2019.
A wonderful day was had by all at Roy's Captain's Day event.
The day was well supported by members and friends from Highley
and Chelmarsh Bowls Clubs.
With perfect weather thing couldn't have been any better.
Roy thank every one for supporting the event and a special
thanks to Phil Pack who does a fantastic job in arranging all of
the games.

DAY |
John & Carol after winning the final. They played extremely well
to win the final
but their opponents added to the game with some very tight ends
John & Carol won 10-4 with an end to spare.
Well played to all of the finalists.
46 members and friends took part and a very enjoyable day was
had by all.
A special thanks to the Highley Ladies for providing a
wonderful Buffet.
Also to Phil Pack and the committee members for organising the
games.
Everyone played 3 games of 7 ends with the 4 highest scores

The HODGES CUP (scratch singles for men) |
Ten member contested this competition for the Hodges Cup.
The eventual winner being Chris Cowdell who played Nick
Flatters.
The final was a top class game with Chris going 19-11 up but
Nick made a tremendous fight back
to get to 20-20 across. Chris took the final end to win
21-20.Both players played 3 games
including the final.

MONDAY MAY 6TH

THE ALLAN POWELL TROPHY.
The Gilt Edge Bowling Club
made their bi-annual visit to Cleobury Mortimer Bowls Club.
A very good day was had by all.
The Gilt Edge members played exceptionally well, but the
Cleobury Team managed to win the match by just one shot. The
final score being 93-92.
After the match a very good buffet was enjoyed by all.
Thank go to Lesley Burnside, Jean Wilson, Dorothy Davies and
Howard Broome.
