Phil Baker (Ludlow League Treasure) handing over the K.O Cup to

Ludlow Castle in the final
and with a start of 77 shots won a tremendous match finally
winning 199-194
Well played to both teams.

A
special thanks was given to the Cleobury Mortimer club for
hosting this event.
The green as usual was prepared perfectly for the match by Phil
Pack.
And a top class buffet was laid on by Lesley Burnside, with the
help of Lauren Burnside
& Jean Wilson. Also a big thank you to the tape persons. |
PRESIDENTS DAY
SUNDAY
SEPTEMBER 18TH 2016 |
The victorious Presidents team: With the club President, Dave
Jones receiving the
Presidents Day Trophy from Lauren Burnside.
The Presidents team defeated the Club Captains (Club Captain,
Howard Broome) side by 231 shots to 194 shots.
This years Presidents Day was run on a slightly different format
to previous years.
The change was instigated by Lauren Burnside and incorporated
The Lauren Buddy Bash.
The idea being to raise funds for the club itself. This idea had
the full support of all of the members
and friends of the club who consist of the Chelmarsh Bowling
Club and the Highley Bowling Club. |

Phil & John do a wonderful job of organising the days games.
The 2 teams were divide into pairs and played 3 games each over
7 ends.
A special thanks must go to Lesley Burnside & Lauren Burnside
for putting on a top class buffet.
The event also included the presentation of club trophies. |

THE DANIEL AIR AMBULANCE DAY
CLEOBURY MORTIMER BOWLS CLUB. |
40 members and friends took part in the annual Daniel Taylor Air
Ambulance Day.
With fine weather all day long it made for a very enjoyable
event.
The competition was played in 2 groups of 3 games over 7 ends,
with the 2 highest scores
playing an 8 end final.The finalist being:
Pam Lacey & Brian Williams, (r) & Brenda Turner & Tony Wilson.

Pam & Brian raced into an 8-0 lead after 5 ends, but Brenda &
Tony fought back with a 2-2 & 4
to draw level on 8 ends, forcing a one end play of. Pam & Brian
prevailed and got the vital 1 shot to win the final.
They were presented with their prizes by Club Captain Howard
Broome.
During the Buffet break, a spider competition took place and
this was won by Colin Brookes.
Bill Nixon from the Highley Bowls Club put up a pair of bowls,
in a leather bag, for auction these raised £25.00. and were
bought by Neil Burns.
The combined total raised with the Highley Bowls club was over
£500.00.
Well don to everyone.
A special thanks to all of the people who made it such a
successful day.

SUNDAY JULY 31st.

AIR AMBULANCE DAY
AT HIGHLEY BOWLS CLUB |
42 members and
friends took part in today's event.
The event was
played in 2 groups of 3 games played over 7 ends.
The winners of
the groups were Ivor Lewis & Howard Broome, (both centre)
and Ron Smith &
Jan Hetherington.
The final was
played over 8 ends. Ivor & Howard raced into a 7-3 lead,
leaving Ron & Jan
needing 4 shots to force a tie break end but Ivor & Howard
scored the vital
shot to win 8-3.
Well played to
all those taking part.
A special thanks
must go to the Highley Bowls Club for their
hospitality and
providing a marvellous buffet.
And a big thank
you to Phil Pack & John Cadwallader for organising the
competition.
The sum of
£200.00 + was raised for the Air Ambulance Appeal.

26TH 2016
CAPTAINS DAY |
The Captains Day
was a tremendous success in spite of the cloudy skies and later
the steady showers.
58 members and friends enjoyed some first class bowling, with
some high scores being registered.
The round robin system works very well in these type of club
competitions.
This years Club Captain, Howard Broome, thanked Phil Pack & John
Cadwallader for doing a splendid job in organising the bowls
side of the event. He also thanked Lesley Burnside & Lauren
Burnside for a splendid buffet.
He also thanked everyone who had helped him to make this such a
success full day.
With 40 bowlers in pairs each pair played 3 games in 2 groups of
7 ends and the highest score from each group played a 9 end
final. The 2 pairs that had the highest scores were
Jim Roberts & Dave Hackett (28) and Roy Broome & Pete Blakemore
(28). |
The four finalists, after the final was played, with Club
Captain, Howard Broome.
The winners were Jim Roberts & Dave Hackett (right).
Roy Broome & Peter Blakemore (left).
Unfortunately for Roy & Pete Jim & Dave overwhelmed them
and won 11shots to 4 after 8 ends.

It was always a close scoring match but at one stage Bill & Joe

Competition at Gilt Edge Bowling Club |

The Gilt Edge Club Captain.
This is the 3rd time in succession the the Gilt Edge Bowls Club
have won the trophy.
The weather was superb and just right for bowling.
After the match all players and friends sat down and enjoyed a
first class meal.
The final score was a resounding 112-64 victory.
Well done all players, and thank you Gilt Edge for a wonderful
day, and we all look forward do next year.

It was a very good final with the lead changing a few times but
Chris managed to run out and secure the game.
Chris played 3 games to reach the final and Lesley played twice.
14 members took part.
